What Makes This Different

Most marketing tools track Google rankings. ILLIXIS queries AI engines directly — asking them real questions about your category and checking whether they mention you. As more people use AI instead of Google, AI visibility becomes as important as SEO.

The AI Visibility Page

Navigate to AI Visibility in the main navigation. The page has one job: discover content opportunities from AI sub-queries and let you create briefs from them.

Running a Scan

Click Run AI Scan to query all 4 AI engines with brand-specific prompts about your category. The scan:

  • Generates 6-10 prompts based on your brand keywords, core head term, and competitors
  • Queries Perplexity, Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini directly
  • Captures sub-queries (the questions AI engines explore before answering)
  • Checks whether each engine cites your domain
  • Takes 2-5 minutes to complete. Refresh the page to see results.

Scans run automatically every week. You can also trigger them on-demand.

Content Ideas from AI

After a scan completes, you'll see a table of topics — each one a prompt that was sent to AI engines. Click any row to expand it and see the sub-queries AI engines explored for that topic.

These sub-queries are content opportunities. If you create content that directly addresses these questions, AI engines are more likely to cite you when answering related queries in the future.

Each row shows:

  • Topic — the parent prompt sent to AI engines
  • Sub-queries count — how many related questions the engines explored
  • Create Brief button — one-click GEO brief creation

Creating GEO Briefs

Click Create Brief on any topic to create a GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) brief. This creates a content brief optimized for AI citation rather than search engine ranking. The brief:

  • Uses the topic and all its sub-queries as context
  • Applies the CITED Framework (claim-evidence pairs, entity statements, Q&A format)
  • Uses Perplexity deep research for background
  • Skips SERP enrichment entirely — this is AI-first content

Briefs that already exist for a topic won't be duplicated. The button will show a link to the existing brief instead.

AI Visibility in Analytics

The Analytics Dashboard → AI tab provides brand monitoring and historical tracking:

  • AI Visibility Score (0-100) with month-over-month change
  • 6-month trend chart showing score over time
  • Platform cards showing per-engine mention counts (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overview)
  • Query Analysis — which queries mention you and which don't
  • Competitor Alerts — when competitors are mentioned more than you
  • Monthly stats — total mentions, sentiment, comparison vs last month
  • Ask Maya button for GEO recommendations

GEO Audit (CITED Hub)

The GEO Audit at /geo-audit/ scores how well your content is positioned for AI citation across 5 pillars:

  • Crawl — Can AI find you? (schema, robots.txt, llms.txt)
  • Inform — Is content structured for AI? (quality, quotability)
  • Trust — Do AI systems see you as authoritative? (backlinks, domain rank)
  • Evaluate — Are you tracking AI citations? (visibility score, tracking coverage)
  • Distribute — Are you where AI looks? (third-party presence, entity recognition)

Each pillar scores 0-100. The composite score classifies you as Invisible, Emerging, Competitive, or Dominant. Actionable recommendations include effort estimates and affected page URLs.

Available on Professional and Enterprise plans.

Best Practices

1. Run Scans Weekly

Automated scans run weekly. Use manual scans after publishing new content to check impact.

2. Create Briefs from Sub-Queries

The sub-queries are your best content opportunities. Each one is a question AI engines already explore — content addressing these directly has higher citation probability.

3. Focus on Citation, Not Just Visibility

Being visible but not cited means AI sees your content but doesn't trust it enough to reference. Improve:

  • Content depth (comprehensive answers)
  • Authority signals (author bios, data sources, citations)
  • Structure (numbered lists, tables, clear sections)

4. Use the GEO Audit for Technical Fixes

The GEO Audit identifies specific technical issues (blocked AI crawlers, missing schema, incomplete llms.txt) with effort estimates. Fix critical items first.

5. Ask Maya for GEO Recommendations

On the Analytics AI tab, click "Ask Maya" for personalized recommendations or click "Get advice" next to any query where you're not mentioned.

FAQ

Q: How much does a scan cost? ~$1-2 per scan. It queries 4 AI engines with 6-10 prompts each. Scans run weekly automatically.

Q: What's the difference between AI Visibility and the GEO Audit? AI Visibility discovers content opportunities by querying AI engines directly. The GEO Audit scores your technical readiness for AI citation using existing data (no additional API calls).

Q: What's a good visibility score?

  • 0-30: Low — rarely mentioned. Prioritize AI-optimized content.
  • 31-60: Moderate — some presence but inconsistent.
  • 61-85: Strong — recognized source in your space.
  • 86-100: Exceptional — top-tier authority.

Q: Why create GEO briefs instead of regular briefs? GEO briefs optimize for AI citation (claim-evidence pairs, entity statements, Q&A format) rather than search engine ranking. They skip SERP analysis entirely and use the CITED Framework patterns.

Q: Does AI visibility affect my Google rankings? Not directly. But content optimized for AI pickup tends to perform well in traditional search too — it's comprehensive, well-structured, and authoritative.
