How to Use Social Studio

Accessing Social Studio

Find it in Distribute → Creative Studio → Social Studio or go directly to /social-studio/.

Creating Freestyle Content

Step 1: Choose Your Mode

Click the Freestyle tab. This mode doesn't require an article.

Step 2: Enter Your Topic

Type your topic in the input field. Be specific:

Good topics:

• "3 productivity habits that helped me write 50 blog posts this year"
• "Behind-the-scenes look at our new product packaging"
• "Common mistakes when choosing sunscreen for sensitive skin"

Vague topics:

• "Marketing tips" (too broad)
• "New product" (no context)

Step 3: Select Content Types

Check which types you want to generate:

You can select multiple types. All will generate simultaneously.

Step 4: Choose Visual Style (Optional)

If you're generating Quote Graphics or Social Videos, select a visual style.

Popular styles:

• Mixed Styles: Different aesthetics per image (most versatile)
• Frosted Overlay: Text on lifestyle photography
• Dark Luxury: Black backgrounds with gold accents
• Editorial: Magazine-quality layouts

Step 5: Generate

Click "Generate Content". Generation takes 30-90 seconds depending on content types selected.

Creating From Article

Step 1: Choose Your Mode

Click the From Article tab.

Step 2: Select an Article

Choose from your recent published content. The dropdown shows articles from the past 60 days.

Don't see your article?

• Check that it's published (not draft)
• It must have at least 300 words
• Created in the last 60 days

Step 3: Select Content Types

Same options as Freestyle mode. The AI extracts key points from your article to create each type.

Step 4: Generate

Click "Generate Content". The AI analyzes your article's structure, pulls out quotable moments, and creates platform-optimized variations.

The Freestyle Gallery

After generating content, find it in the Gallery (icon in top-right corner or /social-studio/gallery/).

Gallery Organization

Content is organized by topic. Each topic card shows:

• Topic name: Click the pencil icon to rename
• Content types generated: Icons show what you've created
• Session count: How many times you generated content for this topic

Viewing Content

Click a topic card to expand it. Content is organized into tabs:

Captions Tab

Shows social captions organized by platform. Each caption card displays:

• Platform: Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.
• Caption variations: 5-7 options with different angles
• Hashtags: Pre-researched hashtags
• Image: AI-generated visual (if selected during generation)

Actions:

• Copy to clipboard
• Download as ZIP (caption.txt + image)
• Publish to connected social accounts

Quote Graphics Tab

Shows 4 shareable quote graphics. Each displays in Instagram mockup style with:

• Profile header (your brand)
• Quote image (1080x1080px)
• Caption text

Actions:

• Download individual images
• Download all 4 as ZIP
• View full-screen preview

Video Scripts Tab

Shows generated video scripts with scene breakdowns.

What you get:

• Opening hook (first 3 seconds)
• Scene-by-scene breakdown
• B-roll suggestions
• Estimated duration
• Platform optimization notes

Actions:

• Send to Video Production for rendering
• Download as PDF
• Copy script text

Carousels Tab

Shows 8-10 slide carousel text formatted for Instagram/LinkedIn swipe posts.

Format:

• Slide 1: Hook/title
• Slides 2-9: Key points (one per slide)
• Slide 10: CTA

Actions:

• Copy all slides
• Download as text file
• Export to Google Slides (Enterprise)

Videos Tab

Shows AI-generated social videos (if selected during generation).

What you get:

• 9:16 vertical video (TikTok, Reels)
• Video duration: 15-30 seconds
• Captions burned in
• Background music

Actions:

• Download MP4
• Publish to connected platforms
• Regenerate with different settings

Instagram-Style Mockup Cards

Each caption appears in an Instagram post mockup:

Mockup elements:

• Profile avatar: Your brand logo (first letter if no logo)
• Username: Your brand name
• Image: AI-generated visual
• Angle badge: Shows content angle (Storytelling, Educational, Promotional)
• Caption: Full text with hashtags
• Engagement icons: Like, comment, share (visual only)

Why the mockup? Lets you see how the post will look on Instagram before publishing. Easier to evaluate caption length, image fit, and overall vibe.

Each caption generation creates 5-7 variations with different angles:

Publishing to Social Platforms

Connecting Accounts

Before publishing, connect your social accounts:

1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Social Platforms
2. Click "Connect Platform"
3. Authorize ILLIXIS to post on your behalf
4. Your accounts appear in Social Studio

Supported platforms:

• Instagram (posts, stories, reels)
• Facebook (posts, pages)
• Twitter/X
• LinkedIn (personal, company pages)
• TikTok
• YouTube (shorts)

Publishing a Caption

From the Gallery:

1. Click the caption you want to publish
2. Click "Publish" button
3. Select destination platform(s)
4. Choose account (if you have multiple)
5. Schedule or post immediately
6. Click "Publish Now" or "Schedule"

What gets published:

• Caption text (automatically trimmed to platform limits)
• Hashtags (appended or integrated based on platform)
• Image (if available)

Bulk Publishing

Publish the same caption to multiple platforms at once:

1. Click "Publish to Multiple" from caption card
2. Check all platforms you want
3. Review platform-specific previews
4. Click "Publish All"

Platform-specific formatting:

• Twitter: Truncated to 280 characters, hashtags moved to end
• LinkedIn: Professional tone emphasized, emojis reduced
• Instagram: Full captions with hashtags inline
• TikTok: Shortened with CTA in first line

Adding More Content to a Topic

Already generated content for a topic but want more variations?

From the Gallery:

1. Find the topic card
2. Click "Add More" button
3. Select additional content types you want
4. Click "Generate"

New content is added to the same topic. Your previous captions, graphics, and videos remain intact.

Use cases:

• Generated captions but now want video scripts
• Need more quote graphic styles
• Want to try a different platform (LinkedIn after doing Instagram)

Editing and Regenerating

Editing Captions

Click the caption card, then "Edit" to modify:

• Caption text
• Hashtags (add/remove)
• Selected image

Changes save automatically.

Regenerating Images

Don't like the AI-generated image?

1. Click the caption card
2. Click "Regenerate Image"
3. Wait 15-20 seconds
4. New image replaces the old one

Regeneration limits: Each caption allows 3 image regenerations. After that, you can upload your own image.

Regenerating Captions

Want completely new caption variations?

1. Click "Regenerate All" from the topic card
2. New captions replace old ones
3. Previous version is archived (recoverable via support if needed)

When to regenerate:

• None of the 5-7 variations feel right
• Topic angle changed
• Testing different messaging

Quote Graphics Deep Dive

Quote graphics are Instagram-ready images with text overlays. ILLIXIS generates 4 images per set using the "Nano Banana" technique (single 2x2 grid cropped into 4 images).

How Quote Graphics Are Generated

1. AI extracts 4 quotable moments from your topic
2. Generates image prompts matching your visual style
3. Creates a single 2x2 grid with all 4 quotes
4. Crops into 4 separate 1080x1080px images

Hiding Styles You Don't Like

Not a fan of certain styles?

1. Go to Style Preview page
2. Click the eye icon on styles you dislike
3. Hidden styles won't appear in your recommendations

Hidden styles remain available if you explicitly select "All Styles."

AI Style Recommendations

ILLIXIS analyzes your brand category, tone, and audience to recommend 8-12 styles. Find them at the top of the Style Preview page under "Recommended for You."

How recommendations work:

• Brand category (e.g., fashion, tech, wellness)
• Target audience (e.g., entrepreneurs, parents)
• Brand tone (e.g., professional, playful)

Refresh recommendations anytime by clicking "Refresh Suggestions."

Video Scripts Deep Dive

Video scripts are scene-by-scene breakdowns for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

Script Format

Hook (3 seconds): Opening line that stops the scroll. Example: "This one mistake costs most creators 80% of their views."

Body Scenes (5-8 scenes): Each scene includes:

• Voiceover text (what to say)
• Visual suggestion (what to show on screen)
• Duration (seconds)
• B-roll notes

CTA Scene: Final call-to-action. Example: "Follow for more tips like this."

Want to turn the script into an actual video?

1. Click "Create Video" from script card
2. Script opens in Video Production Dashboard
3. AI generates storyboard with scene images
4. Review and approve each scene
5. Final video renders in 3 aspect ratios

Carousel Deep Dive

Carousels are swipe posts for Instagram and LinkedIn. ILLIXIS generates 8-10 slides formatted for visual design.

Carousel Format

Slide 1: Hook Eye-catching title that makes people swipe. Example: "10 Writing Tips That Changed Everything"

Slides 2-9: Points One key point per slide. Each slide is 5-15 words (short enough to design as a graphic).

Slide 10: CTA Final slide with call-to-action. Example: "Follow @yourbrand for more tips."

Using Carousel Text

Option 1: Design yourself Copy carousel text and paste into Canva, Figma, or Adobe Express. Each slide becomes one graphic.

Option 2: Export to Google Slides (Enterprise) One-click export to Google Slides. Each slide is pre-formatted. Add visuals and export as images.

Option 3: Send to designer Download carousel text as TXT and send to your designer with visual style guidelines.

Carousel Best Practices

Keep it visual: Short text per slide (5-15 words). The graphic does the heavy lifting.

Use consistent design: Same color scheme, fonts, and layout across all slides. Brand cohesion matters.

Hook on Slide 1: First slide determines if people swipe. Make it bold, surprising, or promise value.

CTA on last slide: Always include a follow or engagement CTA on the final slide.

Social Videos Deep Dive

Social Videos are AI-generated 15-30 second videos optimized for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

• Enable AI voiceover (uses your selected voice from Voice Library)
• Disable for music-only videos

Regenerating Videos

Not happy with the generated video?

1. Click "Regenerate Video" from video card
2. Adjust settings (caption style, music mood, voiceover)
3. Wait 60-90 seconds
4. New video replaces old one

Regeneration cost: Each video regeneration uses 1 Social Video credit from your plan.

Managing Your Topics

Renaming Topics

1. Click the pencil icon next to topic name
2. Type new name
3. Press Enter to save

When to rename:

• Topic was auto-generated from a long sentence
• You want more descriptive organization
• Multiple topics with similar names

Deleting Topics

1. Click the trash icon on topic card
2. Confirm deletion

What gets deleted:

• All captions under this topic
• All quote graphics
• All video scripts
• All carousels
• All videos

Cannot undo. Deleted topics are not recoverable. Download anything you want to keep first.

Topic Suggestions Feature

Social Studio suggests trending topics based on your recent articles.

Where to Find Suggestions

Click "Get Topic Ideas" from Freestyle tab. AI analyzes your last 10 articles and suggests 5 topics you could turn into social content.

Suggestion format:

• Topic headline
• Why it's trending
• Content angles to explore

Using Suggestions

Click any suggestion to auto-fill the topic field. Customize if needed, then generate content.

Suggestions refresh: New suggestions every 24 hours based on your latest content.

Best Practices

Topic Selection

Be specific: "5 Instagram growth hacks for small business" beats "Instagram tips."

Include the hook: The topic should contain the angle. "Why everyone is wrong about sunscreen" is better than "Sunscreen tips."

Test different angles: Generate once for Educational angle, again for Storytelling. See what performs better.

Content Type Selection

Start with captions: Fastest to generate, easiest to publish. Get momentum before diving into videos.

Add quote graphics: High engagement, easy to share. Good for building visual content library.

Video scripts for depth: When you have time to produce or want to repurpose into video.

Carousels for authority: Demonstrates expertise, great for LinkedIn.

Social videos last: Most production-heavy. Generate when you're ready to publish immediately.

Publishing Strategy

Publish across platforms: Same caption can work on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook with minor tweaks. Use bulk publishing.

Schedule for consistency: Space out posts across the week. Don't publish all 5 variations at once.

Track performance: Note which caption angle gets the most engagement. Double down on that style next time.

Repurpose winners: Top-performing caption? Turn it into a video script or carousel for extended reach.

Troubleshooting

"No topics found"

You're in From Article mode but have no recent articles.

Solution:

• Switch to Freestyle mode
• Publish an article first
• Check that articles are marked "published" (not draft)

"Image generation failed"

AI image generation timed out or hit an error.

Solution:

• Click "Regenerate Image"
• Select a different visual style
• Try again in 5 minutes (API may be temporarily overloaded)

"Caption is too short"

Generated caption is under platform minimum (usually 50 characters).

Solution:

• Edit caption and expand it
• Regenerate all captions
• Provide more detail in your topic

"Video generation stuck"

Video shows "Generating" for over 5 minutes.

Solution:

• Refresh the page
• Check status again in Gallery
• If still stuck after 10 minutes, click "Regenerate Video"

"Can't publish to platform"

Platform is grayed out in publish modal.

Solution:

• Platform isn't connected yet (go to Settings → Integrations)
• Account authorization expired (reconnect platform)
• Caption exceeds platform character limit (edit to shorten)

Keyboard Shortcuts

Mobile Experience

Social Studio works on mobile but is optimized for desktop.

Mobile limitations:

• No drag-to-reorder for slides
• Gallery cards display in single column
• Style preview shows 2 per row instead of 4
• Video regeneration not available on mobile
