What the Social Hub Does

The Social Hub is your unified social media command center. It connects to your social accounts via the social publishing integration, letting you schedule posts, view your queue, track published content, and monitor engagement metrics across all platforms.

Unlike platform-specific tools, the Social Hub gives you a single view of your entire social presence. Schedule a LinkedIn post while checking Instagram engagement metrics without switching tabs.

Finding the Social Hub

Path: Content Hub → Social Hub (in main navigation)

The Social Hub has four tabs:

  1. Queue — Posts scheduled for future publishing
  2. Published — Posts already live on social platforms with engagement data
  3. Drafts — Generated captions ready to schedule
  4. Analytics — Cross-platform performance metrics

How to Create a Post

Step 1: Choose Your Content

Click Create Post from any Social Hub tab. A modal appears showing your recent articles.

Search tip: Use the search box to filter articles by title. This is faster than scrolling when you have hundreds of pieces.

Step 2: Generate Social Captions

Select an article to open the Social Extensions page. This is where you create platform-specific variations.

Platform options:

  • Twitter/X (280 characters)
  • LinkedIn (professional tone)
  • Instagram (visual-first with hashtags)
  • Facebook (conversational)
  • TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, Reddit, and more

Click Generate Captions for each platform. ILLIXIS creates multiple variations (5-7 per article) optimized for that platform's format and audience.

Step 3: Edit and Customize

Review the generated captions. Edit text directly, adjust hashtags, or regenerate if needed.

Editing options:

  • Click into any caption to edit text
  • Add or remove hashtags
  • Shorten or expand text
  • Regenerate for new variations

Step 4: Schedule or Publish

Choose accounts and schedule:

  1. Select platforms — Check boxes for Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
  2. Set schedule time — Pick date and time, or publish immediately
  3. Choose accounts — If you have multiple connected accounts per platform
  4. Publish — Click Schedule to add to queue

Scheduling tip: Batch schedule for the week in one session. Generate captions for 5-7 articles, then schedule them across different days and platforms.

Connected Accounts & Platform Limits

The Social Hub uses the social publishing integration to connect your social accounts. This handles OAuth complexity behind the scenes so you don't manage API keys or tokens.

Platform Access by Tier

13 supported platforms: Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, Reddit, and more.

Connections allowed per website:

  • Starter: 4 platforms per website
  • Professional: 8 platforms per website
  • Enterprise: All 13 platforms per website

Unlimited posts: All tiers get unlimited social posts. The limit is on connected platforms, not post volume.

Connecting Your First Account

Go to Settings → Integrations → Social Platforms. Click Connect next to the platform you want to add (e.g., Instagram). ILLIXIS redirects you to Instagram's OAuth flow. Approve the connection, and you're redirected back to ILLIXIS.

Your connected account appears in the Social Hub immediately. No setup required.

Multiple Accounts per Platform

Need two Instagram accounts? Connect them both. The Social Hub lets you choose which account to post to when scheduling.

Use case: You manage a personal brand Instagram and a business Instagram. Connect both, then select which account gets each post when scheduling.

Queue Tab: Managing Scheduled Posts

The Queue tab shows all posts scheduled for future publishing. Each card displays:

  • Platform icon — Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.
  • Schedule date/time — When it will publish
  • Caption preview — First few lines of text
  • Source article — Link to the content it came from

Editing Scheduled Posts

Click Edit on any queued post to modify the caption or reschedule. This opens the Social Extensions page where you can change text, adjust timing, or cancel the post entirely.

Canceling a Post

Click Cancel to remove a scheduled post from the queue. This does NOT delete the generated caption from Drafts. You can reschedule it later if needed.

Common scenario: You scheduled a post for Monday but decided to push it to Wednesday instead. Cancel the Monday slot, then reschedule for Wednesday from the Drafts tab.

Published Tab: Tracking Performance

The Published tab shows posts that have already gone live on social platforms. Each post displays engagement metrics:

  • Likes — Total likes/reactions
  • Comments — Comment count
  • Shares — Retweets, shares, reposts
  • Impressions — How many people saw it

Note: Engagement data syncs from the social publishing integration. Metrics update hourly for recent posts, daily for older content.

What to Look For

High engagement posts: Look for outliers with 3x+ the average engagement. What made these perform? Topic? Format? Time of day? Replicate patterns in future content.

Low engagement posts: Posts with minimal likes/comments signal format or timing issues. Try a different caption style or posting time.

No impressions: If impressions are zero after 24 hours, the post likely failed to publish. Check the platform directly.

Drafts Tab: Bulk Scheduling

The Drafts tab lists all generated captions that haven't been published yet. This is where you batch schedule content.

Workflow for weekly planning:

  1. Generate social captions for 10 articles (Monday morning)
  2. Open Drafts tab to see all generated content
  3. Click Edit & Schedule for each caption
  4. Schedule across different platforms and days
  5. Return to Queue to verify the week's lineup

Why use Drafts? It separates generation from scheduling. Generate everything first, then allocate time slots without switching between tasks.

Analytics Tab: Cross-Platform Metrics

The Analytics tab aggregates performance across all platforms:

  • Total Posts — Volume published
  • Total Likes — Engagement sum
  • Total Comments — Conversation volume
  • Total Shares — Amplification reach
  • Impressions — Total reach

Platform Breakdown Table

Below the summary cards, the platform breakdown shows performance per network:

| Platform | Posts | Likes | Comments | Shares | Impressions |
|----------|-------|-------|----------|--------|-------------|
| Instagram | 24 | 1,847 | 156 | 89 | 18,450 |
| Twitter/X | 18 | 743 | 42 | 124 | 12,300 |
| LinkedIn | 12 | 431 | 67 | 34 | 8,920 |

What to do with this data:

  • Identify top platform — Where do you get the most engagement? Double down there.
  • Spot underperformers — If LinkedIn gets 3x the engagement of Facebook with half the posts, shift posting frequency.
  • Calculate efficiency — Impressions per post = reach efficiency. A platform with high impressions but low engagement needs better content, not more posts.

How Content Becomes Social Posts

Understanding the content-to-social workflow helps troubleshoot publishing issues.

The Flow

  1. Article created — You generate a blog post/article in ILLIXIS
  2. Social extensions generated — You create platform-specific captions from that article
  3. Draft stage — Generated captions appear in Drafts tab
  4. Scheduling — You assign platforms, accounts, and publish times
  5. Queue — Scheduled posts appear in Queue with countdown to publish time
  6. Publishing — ILLIXIS sends post to the social publishing integration at scheduled time
  7. Published tab — Completed posts move to Published with engagement data

Troubleshooting Publishing Failures

Post stuck in Queue past scheduled time:

  • The background task may be delayed (server-side issue)
  • Verify social account still connected (OAuth tokens expire)
  • Check platform API status (rare outages)

Caption won't generate:

  • Verify source article has content (not just a brief)
  • Check if platform is connected (can't generate Instagram captions without Instagram connected)
  • Retry generation (API timeout)

Published post shows zero metrics:

  • Engagement data syncs hourly, not instantly
  • Check platform directly to verify post went live
  • Some platforms have API restrictions on third-party analytics

Best Practices for Social Scheduling

1. Batch Generate, Then Schedule

Don't generate and schedule one post at a time. Generate captions for 7-10 articles in one session, then schedule them all at once. This reduces context switching.

Time savings: Generating 10 captions takes 15 minutes. Scheduling 10 posts takes 10 minutes. Doing both interleaved takes 40 minutes.

2. Use Platform Strengths

Don't post identical content everywhere. Each platform has format preferences:

  • Instagram: Visual-first, 5-8 hashtags, emoji-heavy
  • LinkedIn: Professional tone, data/insights, minimal hashtags
  • Twitter/X: Conversational, thread-friendly, 1-2 hashtags max
  • TikTok: Video-native, trending sounds, short captions

ILLIXIS generates platform-optimized variations automatically, but verify before scheduling.

3. Check Queue Before Week Starts

Review your Queue every Monday morning. Verify:

  • Posts scheduled at reasonable times (not 3 AM)
  • No duplicate topics in one day (3 SEO posts on Monday looks spammy)
  • Platform distribution makes sense (don't post only to LinkedIn for a week)

4. Track What Works, Kill What Doesn't

After publishing 30+ posts, check Analytics to identify patterns:

  • Time of day: Do morning posts outperform afternoon?
  • Content type: Do how-to articles get more shares than listicles?
  • Platform fit: Is your audience more active on LinkedIn than Instagram?

Stop scheduling to low-performing platforms. Shift that effort to winners.

5. Don't Over-Schedule

More posts ≠ more engagement. Flooding followers' feeds reduces per-post engagement.

Recommended frequency:

  • Instagram: 3-5 posts/week
  • LinkedIn: 2-4 posts/week
  • Twitter/X: 5-10 posts/week (higher volume acceptable)
  • Facebook: 3-4 posts/week

Common Questions

Q: Can I schedule to multiple accounts on the same platform at once? A: Yes. When scheduling, check boxes for both accounts (e.g., Instagram Account 1 + Instagram Account 2). The same caption publishes to both.

Q: What happens if I disconnect a platform with posts in the queue? A: Scheduled posts to that platform will fail at publish time. Cancel them from the Queue before disconnecting.

Q: Can I edit a post after it's published? A: No. Once published to the social platform, you must edit it directly on that platform (Instagram, Twitter, etc.). The Social Hub only schedules/publishes.

Q: Why don't I see analytics for recent posts? A: Engagement data syncs hourly from the social publishing integration. New posts may take 1-2 hours to show metrics. Older posts update daily.

Q: How do I know which caption variation to use? A: ILLIXIS generates 5-7 variations per article. Pick based on tone (casual vs professional), length (short vs long), and hashtags (minimal vs heavy). Test different styles to see what performs best for your audience.

Q: Can I upload images for social posts? A: Not yet (February 2026). Social captions are text-only. To include images, use the Quote Graphics feature (Social Studio) which generates AI images with captions.

Q: What's the difference between Social Hub and Social Studio? A: Social Hub repurposes existing articles into social captions. Social Studio generates standalone content (quote graphics, video scripts, carousels) from any topic without requiring an article. Use Social Hub for article promotion, Social Studio for original social content.

Limits & Quotas

Social posts: Unlimited (all tiers) Connected platforms: 4 (Starter), 8 (Professional), 13 (Enterprise) Accounts per platform: Unlimited (e.g., 5 Instagram accounts on Professional tier counts as 1 platform)

No monthly post limits. Schedule as much as you want.

Next Steps

Once you've scheduled your first week of posts:

  1. Monitor Queue tab to verify publish times look correct
  2. Check Published tab daily for engagement metrics
  3. Review Analytics weekly to identify top-performing platforms
  4. Adjust scheduling based on data (more posts to high-engagement platforms, fewer to low-performing ones)

The Social Hub replaces manual platform-by-platform scheduling with a unified workflow. Generate once, schedule everywhere, track everything in one dashboard.
