Why Landing Pages Matter

Your homepage is not optimized for every campaign. Dedicated landing pages focus visitors on a single goal without distractions. Whether you are promoting a lead magnet, launching a product, or running an ad campaign, purpose-built pages convert better.

ILLIXIS landing pages are:

  • Fast to create: Complete pages generated from a description
  • Fully customizable: Edit text, images, links, and layout directly in the visual builder
  • Ready for traffic: Built-in analytics and lead capture
  • Responsive: Pages look great on desktop, tablet, and mobile

Finding Landing Pages

Go to Landing Pages in your main navigation or visit /landing-pages/. The dashboard shows all your pages with:

  • Status (Draft, Published)
  • Page type
  • View count
  • Conversion count
  • Conversion rate

Creating a Landing Page

Step 1: Choose Your Page Type

Click Create Landing Page and select a type:

| Type | Purpose | What ILLIXIS Generates |
|------|---------|----------------------|
| Standalone | General marketing page | Hero, features, CTA sections |
| Lead Magnet | Promote a quiz, calculator, or assessment | Hero, embedded lead magnet, benefits |
| Product | Sell a specific product | Hero, features, testimonials, pricing, CTA |
| Event | Event registration | Hero, agenda, speakers, registration form |
| Download | Gated content download | Hero, preview, benefits, email gate |

Step 2: Describe Your Page

Enter a description of what you want to create. Be specific about your audience, goal, and key messages.

Example: "Create a landing page for my Marketing Maturity Assessment. Target small business owners who want to evaluate their marketing efforts. Emphasize that it only takes 5 minutes and provides personalized recommendations."

ILLIXIS generates a complete page with all sections, copy, images, and styling based on your description.

Step 3: Customize in the Builder

The page opens in the builder. See the sections below for a full guide to every editing feature.

Step 4: Configure Settings

Set page metadata:

  • Page title (appears in browser tab)
  • URL slug (the page address)
  • Meta description (for search engines)
  • Favicon (optional custom icon)

Step 5: Publish

Click Publish to make your page live. To publish publicly, you need a verified custom domain configured for your brand (see Custom Domains below). Without a custom domain, you can still share your draft via the token-based preview link, but the page won't be reachable at a public URL.

The Builder Interface

The builder uses a three-panel layout:

| Panel | Position | Purpose |
|-------|----------|---------|
| Sections sidebar | Left | Lists all sections by type. Reorder, regenerate, or delete sections here. |
| Live preview | Center | An iframe rendering your page as visitors will see it. All inline editing happens here. |
| Properties/Layers panel | Right | Shows image properties when an image is selected, section history, or the Layers tab for DOM structure. |

Toolbar

The toolbar runs across the top of the builder. Here is every button from left to right:

| Button | What It Does |
|--------|-------------|
| Add Section | Add a new section to the page |
| Decorative | Toggle decorative element mode |
| X-ray | Toggle structural outlines on all elements |
| Add Form | Insert a lead capture form section |
| Insert | Add an individual element to the selected section |
| Undo | Undo the last change (Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z) |
| Redo | Redo an undone change (Ctrl+Y / Cmd+Y) |
| Save | Save the current state |
| Page History | View and restore page snapshots |
| Share | Generate a preview link for draft pages |
| View Page | Open the published page in a new tab |
| Desktop / Tablet / Mobile | Switch viewport width for responsive preview |

Editing Text

Click any text element in the preview to edit it inline. A formatting toolbar appears above the selected text with these options:

| Button | Effect |
|--------|--------|
| B | Bold |
| I | Italic |
| U | Underline |
| Highlight | Apply highlight styling |
| Clear | Remove all formatting |

Type your changes directly. When you click away from the text, your changes save automatically.

Editing Images

Click any image in the preview to select it. Blue corner handles appear around the image, and an action bar shows three buttons:

Edit

Opens an image modal with two tabs:

  • Upload tab: Drag and drop or browse to upload your own image.
  • Generate tab: Enter a prompt describing the image you want. Choose an aspect ratio before generating:

| Aspect Ratio | Best For |
|-------------|----------|
| 1:1 | Square images, profile photos, icons |
| 16:9 | Hero banners, wide feature images |
| 9:16 | Vertical/mobile images |
| 4:3 | Standard landscape photos |
| 3:4 | Portrait photos |

Click Generate and ILLIXIS creates the image from your prompt.

Crop

Click Crop to enter crop mode. Drag to define the area you want to keep. Click Confirm to apply or Cancel to discard. Cropping is non-destructive; the original image is preserved.

Remove Background

Click Remove BG for one-click background removal. A loading spinner appears while processing. The system automatically selects the best removal model for photos versus illustrations.

Resize

Drag any of the blue corner handles to resize the image within its container.

Image Properties Panel

When an image is selected, the Properties panel on the right shows styling controls:

| Property | Options |
|----------|---------|
| Shadow | None, SM, MD, LG, XL, 2XL |
| Corners | None, SM, MD, LG, XL, 2XL, 3XL, Full |
| Opacity | 100%, 90%, 75%, 50%, 25% |

If the image sits inside a parent wrapper that has its own styling, a Container section appears below with the same Shadow, Corners, and Opacity controls for the parent div.

Editing Links and Buttons

Click any link or button in the preview. A popover appears with two fields:

  • Text: The visible label
  • URL: The link destination

Edit either field and click Save. Click Cancel to discard changes.

Section Management

Viewing Sections

The Sections sidebar on the left lists every section by type (Hero, Features, CTA, Testimonials, FAQ, etc.). The currently visible section is highlighted automatically as you scroll the preview (scroll spy).

Reordering Sections

Two methods:

  1. Drag and drop: Grab the grip handle on any section in the sidebar and drag it to a new position.
  2. Arrow buttons: Hover over a section to reveal up and down arrow buttons. Click to move the section one position.

Regenerating a Section

  1. Hover over the section in the sidebar and click the regenerate icon.
  2. Enter new instructions describing what you want changed (e.g., "Make the headline more urgent" or "Change from 3 columns to 2").
  3. ILLIXIS rewrites the section while preserving the overall page structure.

A page snapshot is automatically saved before regeneration, so you can restore the previous version if needed.

Deleting a Section

Hover over the section in the sidebar and click the trash icon. Confirm the deletion when prompted. A page snapshot is saved before deletion.

Adding a Section

  1. Click Add Section in the toolbar.
  2. Describe what you want (e.g., "Add a testimonials section with 3 customer quotes" or "Add a pricing table with three tiers").
  3. ILLIXIS generates the section to match the style of your existing page and appends it.

Inserting Individual Elements

Select a section first (click it in the sidebar or in the preview). Then click Insert in the toolbar. Nine element types are available:

| Element | Description |
|---------|-------------|
| Heading | A heading element. Opens for inline editing immediately. |
| Paragraph | A text paragraph. Opens for inline editing immediately. |
| Image | An image element. Opens the image modal so you can upload or generate. |
| Button | A styled button with link. |
| Divider | A horizontal line separator. |
| Spacer | Vertical spacing between elements. |
| Icon | A decorative icon element. |
| Badge | A small label or tag element. |
| Blockquote | A styled quotation block. |

The element is inserted into the selected section. Text elements (Heading, Paragraph) open for editing immediately after insertion.

X-ray Mode

Click X-ray in the toolbar to toggle structural outlines. Dashed borders appear around every element in the preview, making it easier to understand the page layout and find elements that are hard to click otherwise. Click X-ray again to turn it off.

Layers Panel

Click the Layers tab in the right panel to see the DOM tree of the currently selected section. The Layers panel is useful for understanding how elements are nested and for selecting elements that overlap in the preview.

  • Click a layer in the panel to highlight the corresponding element in the preview.
  • Click an element in the preview to highlight its layer in the panel.
  • Drag layers to reorder them within their sibling group.

The Layers panel updates automatically as you scroll the preview and switch between sections.

Decorative Elements

Click Decorative in the toolbar to enter decorative mode. The Properties panel shows preset categories:

| Category | Examples |
|----------|---------|
| Blobs | Organic shapes for background interest |
| Shapes | Geometric elements (circles, squares, triangles) |
| Patterns | Repeating visual patterns |
| Dividers | Section transition shapes |
| Gradients | Color gradient overlays |

Click a preset to add it to the selected section. Drag the decorative element within the preview to reposition it. Exit decorative mode by clicking the Decorative button again.

Section History

When a section is selected, the Properties panel shows a Section History area with up to 3 prior versions and their timestamps. This history captures the state before each regeneration.

Click Revert on any previous version to swap it in. The current version moves into the history list, so nothing is lost.

Page Snapshots

Click Page History in the toolbar to open the snapshots panel. Snapshots are automatically taken before these actions:

  • Section regeneration
  • Section addition
  • Section deletion

Up to 10 snapshots are stored. Each snapshot shows a timestamp and the action that triggered it. Click Restore on any snapshot to restore the entire page to that point.

Nav and Footer Editing

Navigation Bar

  • Logo: Click the nav logo to toggle between primary and white logo variants. Adjust the logo height.
  • Background: Click the nav header area to change its background color.
  • Links: Click any nav link to edit its text and URL.

Footer

  • Copyright text: Click the footer copyright area to edit the text.
  • Color and background: Adjust footer text color and background color.

Undo and Redo

Use the Undo and Redo buttons in the toolbar, or use keyboard shortcuts:

| Action | Windows/Linux | Mac |
|--------|--------------|-----|
| Undo | Ctrl+Z | Cmd+Z |
| Redo | Ctrl+Y | Cmd+Y |

Undo/redo tracks text edits, image changes, link updates, and element insertions.

Auto-save

Changes save automatically after a few seconds of inactivity. The toolbar shows a status indicator:

| Status | Meaning |
|--------|---------|
| Saved | All changes are saved |
| Saving... | Save in progress |
| Unsaved | Changes pending save |

You can also click Save in the toolbar to save immediately.

Responsive Preview

Click the viewport buttons in the toolbar to preview your page at different screen widths:

| Viewport | Preview Width |
|----------|--------------|
| Desktop | Full width |
| Tablet | Tablet width |
| Mobile | Mobile width |

Check all three viewports before publishing. Pages are built responsive, but reviewing each size helps catch layout issues.

Share Preview Link

Click Share in the toolbar to generate a token-based URL. Anyone with this link can view the draft page without logging in. Use this to collect feedback before publishing.

Embedding Lead Magnets

If you have created a quiz, calculator, or assessment, you can embed it directly in your landing page. Click Add Form in the toolbar to insert a lead capture form section. Leads are captured and synced to your email service provider automatically.

Custom Domains

A verified custom domain is required to publish landing pages publicly. Pages serve from your own subdomain (e.g. go.yourbrand.com/page-name/) — not from the ILLIXIS app domain. This keeps your tenant content on your brand's domain reputation and away from ILLIXIS's conversion tracking.

Setting Up a Custom Domain

  1. Go to Settings > Distribution and scroll to the Custom Domain section.
  2. Enter your subdomain (e.g., go.yourbrand.com).
  3. Add the CNAME record shown to your DNS provider (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.).
  4. Wait for DNS propagation (usually 5 to 30 minutes).
  5. Click Verify DNS Configuration.
  6. ILLIXIS registers the domain and automatically provisions an SSL certificate.

DNS Configuration

Add this record at your domain registrar or DNS provider:

| Type | Name | Value |
|------|------|-------|
| CNAME | go (or your subdomain) | custom-pages.illixis.io |

SSL Certificates

SSL certificates are automatically provisioned and renewed via Let's Encrypt. Your custom domain will have HTTPS enabled without any manual certificate management.

Verification

After adding the DNS record and clicking Verify, ILLIXIS checks your DNS and registers the domain. Verification typically completes within a few minutes. If it fails, double-check your DNS settings and allow more time for propagation.

What Visitors See

  • https://go.yourbrand.com/page-slug/ serves your landing page
  • https://go.yourbrand.com/ redirects to your main website
  • All lead magnets (quizzes, calculators, assessments) also work on your custom domain

Analytics

Each landing page tracks:

| Metric | What It Means |
|--------|---------------|
| Views | Unique visitors to the page |
| Conversions | CTA clicks or form submissions |
| Conversion Rate | Conversions / Views |
| Bounce Rate | Visitors who left without action |
| Avg. Time on Page | How long visitors stayed |

Access analytics from the Landing Pages dashboard or the individual page settings.

Promotion Campaigns

After creating a landing page, ILLIXIS can generate promotion content.

Social Posts

Posts optimized for each platform:

  • LinkedIn (professional tone)
  • Twitter/X (concise, engaging)
  • Facebook (conversational)
  • Instagram (visual-focused captions)

Email Copy

Ready-to-send email announcing your page:

  • Subject line options
  • Body copy
  • CTA button text

Ad Copy

For paid promotion:

  • Google Ads headlines and descriptions
  • Meta ad primary text and headlines
  • LinkedIn ad copy

Access these from the Promote button on any published landing page.

Best Practices

1. One Goal Per Page Each landing page should have one clear objective. Do not try to do too much.

2. Match Ad to Landing Page If running ads, ensure the landing page headline matches the ad. Consistency increases conversion.

3. Minimize Navigation Unlike your main website, landing pages should have minimal or no navigation. Keep visitors focused.

4. Strong Above-the-Fold Your headline, value proposition, and CTA should be visible without scrolling.

5. Social Proof Near CTA Place testimonials or trust badges near your call-to-action buttons.

6. Mobile-First Design Check how your page looks on mobile using the viewport toggle. Most traffic is mobile.

7. Fast Load Time Avoid large images. ILLIXIS optimizes assets automatically, but simpler pages load faster.

8. Use Section History Before regenerating a section you like, note that a snapshot is saved automatically. You can always revert if the new version does not work.

A/B Testing

Create variations of your landing page to test:

  • Different headlines
  • CTA button colors or text
  • Section order
  • With vs without testimonials

Duplicate your page, make changes, and split traffic between versions. Compare conversion rates to find what works best.

FAQ

Q: How many landing pages can I create? Landing pages are unlimited on all plans.

Q: Can I use my main domain instead of a subdomain? We recommend subdomains (like pages.yourdomain.com) to avoid conflicts with your main website. Root domain setup is possible but requires more complex DNS configuration.

Q: What happens if I delete a published landing page? The URL returns a 404 error. Consider unpublishing instead to preserve the page for future use.

Q: Can I duplicate a landing page? Yes. Click the duplicate icon on any page to create a copy.

Q: How do I track conversions in Google Analytics? Add your GA4 measurement ID in Landing Pages > Settings. Page views and events will appear in your GA4 property.

Q: Can I add custom CSS? Yes. Each page has a Custom CSS field in settings for advanced styling.

Q: Do landing pages affect my SEO? Landing pages are indexable by default. Add noindex in page settings if you do not want them in search results.

Q: How do I undo a section regeneration? Two options. Use the Section History in the Properties panel to revert to a prior version of that section. Or use Page Snapshots (Page History button) to restore the entire page to the state before regeneration.

Q: Can I rearrange elements within a section? Yes. Open the Layers panel (right side, Layers tab) to see the DOM tree. Drag layers to reorder elements within their sibling group.

Q: What is X-ray mode for? X-ray mode shows dashed outlines on every element, making it easier to understand the page structure and select elements that are hard to click in the normal view.
