What is Local Presence?

When someone searches for what you do nearby, most of what happens next never touches your website. They tap to call you, ask for directions, or head to your site straight from your Google listing. Local Presence brings those customer actions, your reviews, and your local rankings into one place, so you can measure the moments that actually turn a search into a customer.

What it covers:

  • Customer actions from your Google Business Profile: calls, website taps, and direction requests
  • Map-pack and organic rankings for the "[service] [city]" terms you already target (for businesses that serve a specific area)
  • Reviews from your connected Google Business Profile, in your engagement inbox, with replies that post back to Google

You connect to Google Business Profile through Google's official connection. ILLIXIS reads your listing data; it is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Google.

Finding Local Presence

Navigate to Measure → Local Presence in the left sidebar.

What you see depends on your business:

  • Local businesses (a single city, multiple cities, or a region) see both the customer-actions summary and the map-pack rank table.
  • National multi-location brands see the customer-actions summary for every connected location. Map-pack rank tracking is city-scoped, so the rank table is reserved for businesses that serve a specific area.

Connecting Google Business Profile

Customer actions and reviews come from your Google Business Profile, so connect it first.

  1. Open Settings → Integrations, or click Connect Google Business Profile from the Local Presence page.
  2. Sign in to the Google account that manages your listing and grant access.
  3. Choose the location you manage. If you manage many locations, connect each one you want to track.

Once connected, ILLIXIS begins pulling customer actions, reviews, and rankings. The first data appears after the next daily sync.

Reading the page

Customer actions

The headline section shows the actions people took straight from your Google listing over the last 30 days:

  • Calls: tapped to call you from Google
  • Website taps: visited your site from Google
  • Direction requests: asked for directions to you

These are the metrics local marketing turns on. A busy listing can drive calls and visits without a single homepage view, so this is where you measure whether your local presence is working.

What you will see depending on your setup:

  • No Google Business Profile connected yet: a Connect Google Business Profile button to start the connection.
  • Connected, no data yet: a note that your profile is connected and customer-action data syncs daily. Check back after the next sync.
  • Data available: the three totals above, for the trailing 30 days.

Map-pack and organic positions

For businesses that serve a specific area, this table tracks where you land for the terms you already target:

  • Keyword: the "[service] [city]" term being tracked
  • Map-pack rank: your position in the local 3-pack (the map box at the top of local search)
  • Organic rank: your position in the standard organic results
  • 3-pack: whether a local map pack is present for that search
  • Last checked: when the position was last captured

Positions refresh weekly. To pull a fresh read on demand, click Capture now in the top right. National brands do not see this table, because map-pack tracking is tied to a specific service area.

Reviews

Reviews from your connected Google Business Profile flow into your engagement inbox, alongside your other interactions. Reply from inside ILLIXIS and your reply posts back to Google, so you can respond to every review without logging into each listing one by one.

Who Local Presence is for

  • Single-location businesses (dentists, gyms, restaurants, salons) that live or die by the map pack. Track the calls and directions your listing drives, keep every review answered, and watch where you rank for the searches that bring people in.
  • National multi-location brands (chains, franchises, dealer networks, multi-branch gyms and banks). Every location has a Google listing and its own stream of customer actions. Track them all in one place.
  • Lean marketing teams running local for one brand or several. Customer actions, reviews, and rankings for every location you manage, in the same platform as your content, ads, and analytics.

Troubleshooting

"Connect Google Business Profile" keeps showing after I connected

The connection may still be finishing, or the location was not selected. Return to Settings → Integrations, confirm the Google Business Profile connection is active, and make sure you selected a location. Customer actions appear after the first daily sync.

My customer actions are all zero

If your profile is connected and the section shows zeros rather than the connect button, the data has synced and Google reported no calls, directions, or website taps in the window. A brand-new or quiet listing genuinely shows zeros until activity picks up.

The map-pack table is missing

Map-pack rank tracking is only available for businesses that serve a specific area. If your business is set to national, the rank table does not appear. Set a marketing location (single city, multiple cities, or regional) in Brand Settings to turn it on.

Rankings look out of date

Positions refresh weekly. For an immediate update, click Capture now. If nothing changes, your tracked keywords may not currently return a local map pack for your city.
