Caption Types

Choose the messaging approach for your video caption:

| Type | Use When | Characteristics |

| Storytelling | Sharing narratives, behind-the-scenes, personal experiences | Emotional connection, narrative arc, relatable scenarios |
| Educational | Teaching concepts, explaining processes, sharing tips | Informative tone, clear explanations, actionable insights |
| Promotional | Announcing sales, promoting products, driving conversions | Direct calls-to-action, urgency, value propositions |

Platform-specific: ILLIXIS automatically generates captions matching all three types when you create social extensions. Select your preferred type when generating video.

Caption Styles (Visual Presentation)

Caption Style controls how text appears on screen:

Word Reveal (Recommended for Voiceover)

• What it does: Phrases accumulate as narrator speaks, synced to word-level timestamps from the voiceover
• Visual: Uppercase text, semi-transparent black background, left-aligned
• Best for: Videos with voiceover enabled
• Tech: Uses word-level timing data from the voiceover for precise phrase sync

How it works:

1. Caption broken into natural phrases (3-5 words each)
2. Each phrase appears when spoken
3. Previous phrases remain visible (accumulating)
4. Text persists through entire video segment

Standard Caption Styles

When voiceover is disabled or you prefer static captions:

| Bold Outline | Yellow text with thick black stroke | High contrast, attention-grabbing, sales content |
| Karaoke | Word-by-word highlight (bright green) | Engagement, lyric-style presentation |

Display behavior: Captions rotate through sentences/phrases, one at a time (non-accumulating).

Example 1: Storytelling Video with Voiceover

Example 2: Educational Video without Voiceover

Result: Static informative captions rotating every 2-3 seconds.

Example 3: Promotional Video with High Impact

Technical Notes

Word Reveal Requirements:

• Only works with voiceover enabled
• Requires voiceover to be enabled (provides word timestamps)
• Caches voiceover audio to avoid regenerating on video edits

Caption Type vs Style:

• Type = what the caption says (content angle)
• Style = how the caption looks (visual design)

Phrase Extraction:

• Natural phrase boundaries detected automatically
• Minimum 1.5s per phrase (readability)
• Maximum 4.0s per phrase (engagement)
• Timing adjusted based on voiceover duration

Caption Caching:
If you regenerate a video without changing the caption text or voice, ILLIXIS reuses the cached voiceover audio for faster processing.

Where to Configure

1. Content Hub → Select content → Social Extensions → Generate Video
2. Video modal opens with two dropdowns:

• Caption Type: Storytelling / Educational / Promotional
• Caption Style: Word Reveal / Clean / Bold Outline / Karaoke

3. Select settings → Generate video

Default: Storytelling + Word Reveal (if voiceover enabled), Storytelling + Clean (if voiceover disabled).
