What It Does

Content Migration allows you to transfer multiple content pieces from your Content Hub to external platforms like Shopify, WordPress, or Webflow in a single batch operation. The system handles image migration, URL mapping, and progress tracking automatically, sending you an email notification when the migration completes.

Starting a Migration

Step 1: Select Content to Migrate

  1. Go to Content Hub from the main navigation
  2. Use the filters to find the content you want to migrate (filter by status, topic, or search)
  3. Select individual content items using the checkboxes, or use Select All on Page
  4. For larger migrations, click Select all X articles in the blue banner that appears to include content across all pages

Step 2: Open the Migration Modal

  1. Click the Publish button in the bulk actions bar (appears when items are selected)
  2. Alternatively, if you have multiple connectors, click Push to Platform to open the migration modal

Step 3: Choose Destination Platform

In the migration modal:

  1. Select your Destination Platform from the dropdown (only connected and active connectors appear)
  2. Review the number of items selected

Step 4: Configure Migration Options

Choose optional settings for your migration:

  • Skip image migration: Check this to migrate content without transferring images (useful for faster migrations or when images are already on the destination platform)
  • Update existing content: Check this to overwrite content that was previously migrated (by default, already-migrated content is skipped)

Step 5: Start Migration

Click Start Migration to begin. The system will:

  1. Create a migration job and queue it for processing
  2. Open a progress modal showing real-time status
  3. Process each content item sequentially

Supported Platforms

Content can be migrated to the following platforms:

Migration Jobs List

To view all migration jobs:

  1. Go to Content Hub > Migrations (or navigate directly to /content-hub/migrations/)
  2. Filter by status: Pending, Running, Completed, Failed, or Partial Success
  3. Click View Details on any job to see the full migration log

Solution

Authentication failed

API token expired or revoked

Reconnect the platform in Connectors settings

Content too large

Platform character/size limits exceeded

Edit content to reduce size, then retry

Enable "Update existing content" to overwrite

Retrying Failed Items

For items that failed due to temporary issues:

  1. Select only the failed content items in Content Hub
  2. Start a new migration with Update existing content checked
  3. Monitor the new migration job

Tips for Best Results

  • Prepare content first: Ensure all content is in "Ready" status before migrating. Draft content may have incomplete formatting.
  • Check connector health: Verify your destination connector is active and recently synced before large migrations.
  • Start small: For your first migration, test with 2-3 articles to verify formatting transfers correctly.
  • Review images: If content includes inline images from external sources, consider uploading them to ILLIXIS first or enabling "Skip image migration" and handling images separately.
  • Schedule during off-peak hours: Large migrations (50+ items) run faster when platform APIs are less busy.
  • Keep the tab open: While migrations run in the background, keeping the progress modal open lets you monitor in real-time.
  • Check destination formatting: After migration, review a few articles on the destination platform to verify headings, links, and formatting transferred correctly.

Automation Schedule

Content migrations run on-demand when you initiate them. There is no automated schedule for migrations.

However, related automation runs automatically:
